Interview with Lloyd F. Hudson, an Army veteran (112th Cavalry, Texas National Guard), concerning his experiences in the Southwest Pacific Theater during World War II. Enlistment in the 124th Cavalry, 1940, at age sixteen; federalization of the National Guard, November, 1940; Louisiana Maneuvers, Summer, 1941; assignment to Fort Brown, Brownsville, Texas, 1941; transfer to the 112th Cavalry, 1942; maneuvers at Hueco Springs, Texas, 1942; assignment to New Caledonia, 1942-43; contracting dengue fever; occupation of Woodlark Island, 1943; amphibious training on Goodenough Island, 1943; his wounds received during the amphibious landing on Arawe Island, December 15, 1943; evacuation to Townsville, Australia; comments about A Troop's camaraderie; evacuation to the States, 1944. Appendix consists of lists of people, places, military equipment, and photocopies from the Texas Military Forces Museum website (four leaves).
